Indie Filmmaking: Getting Crowd Funding

Great day!

Just like me, you are constantly looking to fine tune your filmmaking skills. I came across an article that talks about crowdfunding and how to pitch your project. One of the nuggets I got was the importance of being honest. People know when something is not legit or when corners were taken. In order to get crowd funding, it's going to take integrity.

The author talks about how he can tell how authentic a filmmaker is when they send a request for him to publicize their project. He states these reasons:

  • The email was obviously cut and pasted from a template
  • Their pitch is unreadable because it’s full of grammatical errors
  • The email doesn’t specify how they expect me to help
  • The film simply doesn’t look interesting
  • And, most importantly, it’s irrelevant to the readers of this site (you!)

I thought I would share this piece with you to give you something to think about.

Not all shortcuts are meant to be taken and be specific with what you want.

I hope this helps and if you want to finish the article go to: The Black and Blue

Blessings!
